JD Law Graduation Portraits 2020 / 2021

Graduation portrait sessions take place all year round. Bookings are available.

Everything you need to know

Covid update:

Graduation sessions are available. There is a limited number of time slots available per day and week.

Though masks are no longer required, it is recommended that you wear a mask at the time of your arrival and put it back on after your session has finished. Throughout your session you will not be wearing a mask (unless you insist).

Please notify the studio if you will be bringing someone with you as the space is limited and we might not always be able to accommodate.

How do I book an appointment and what are the studio hours?

The studio is open and taking appointments. Sessions are currently by appointment only. To book your session, I can be reached by phone at 613-869-6775 or by email at neon.lilith@gmail.com or through the form you can find on our Contact Page.

Appointments are available from Monday to Saturday at all hours of the day including evenings. If there are particular days or times that work best for you, please let me know when reaching out.

Where is the studio located?

The studio is located at 179 Murray Street, in Studio H (upstairs) of the famous historic Rectory Art House.

The front door of the building will be locked. On your left hand side you will find large doorbells. Ring the doorbell marked “Neon Lilith Photography” and someone will come greet you and take you up to the studio. As I am upstairs, I cannot hear knocking on the door, so it is imperative that you ring my doorbell.

Please, do not send e-mails or text messages to notify me that you have arrived or are waiting outside to be let in - I am often unable to see them in real-time and I will not know you are at the door. Please ring the doorbell.

NOTE ON ACCESSIBILITY: The studio has stairs and is thus not wheelchair accessible. For anyone unable to access the studio, arrangements can be made for a fully accessible environment. I apologize for any inconvenience.

What should I wear to the session?

A plain t-shirt works best. You will be provided with a court style button up shirt to go over your t-shirt. Majority of your outfit will be covered up by the gown. Your portrait session will generally include photos from waist up, unless you request a full body shot.

Notes on makeup: Please do not put makeup on your neck. The collar of the court shirt buttons all the way up your neck and your makeup will seep into the shirt giving it an orange rim that will show up on your photographs. If your session is at the studio, we will be using flash photography, so a matte finish is recommended. Avoid HD Powder as it will cause flashback.

How long does the session take?

When you receive your booking confirmation for a studio session, it will display your time slot as 1 hour, though most appointments take 25-30 minutes from the time you arrive to the time you leave, with estimated 20 minutes of it being in front of the camera.

We schedule appointments as 1 hour long time slots in order to let us accommodate you better and so that you are never rushed. We want to give you the chance to check your hair or makeup and do touch ups if you find they’re necessary. Sessions with friends or family take a little longer as group photos are taken in addition to your individual portraits. In the event that you are a few minutes late, we can hold your appointment so that you don’t miss your session. Lastly, once we have taken all of your photographs, we will go over the ordering process for your photos. This extra time gives us the chance to answer any questions you might have.

I would like my session outside rather than at the studio. Is that possible?

Yes! If you would like a more personalized session, it is an option. Whether you would like the photos around campus, in a park, or in your favourite bar, for additional $20 we can make it to your location (some conditions apply). Contact us as soon as possible to make arrangements. Additionally, split sessions, half in studio, half on location, are also possible for $30 charge and can be done on the same day or on separate days.

If you wish to have your session outdoors or on location, you must let us know at the time of booking so we can make all necessary arrangements.

Can I bring family/friends/pets or props to my photo session?

Of course! If you are planning on bringing friends or family please let us know at the time of booking so we can set up accordingly. If you're bringing friends who are also in the JD Law program, we have a limited number of gowns, so check in with us to make sure we can accommodate.

We encourage bringing props to make your session more personalized. Whether it's your own textbook or a bottle of wine that helped you get through Legal Writing or Evidence class, we will be happy to photograph you with it.

If you are bringing in pets, let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly. We do request that you disclose to us if your pet has a history of aggressive behaviour.

Covid Update: If you are planning on bringing friends or family to your session, please contact the studio prior to booking. With the frequently changing restrictions on the number of people permitted in small spaces, family or friend group photos might not always be an option.

Where can I view the photos after the session?

After your session, you will be emailed a unique link for you to follow and share with friends and family. Your sample photos will be available online for preview within 48 hours from your shoot. The sample photos will not be retouched, and will be watermarked. Once you have made your selection, the photos will be retouched and can be cropped to your liking.

What is the sitting fee?

There is no payment required the day of your photoshoot. You only pay for the finished package or images of your choice which have all the fees included.
